Elle, 1964 Imperial LeBaron

Allow us to introduce you to America's largest, quietest, most expensive luxury sedan. From the 1950s until the 1970s, the Imperial marque was not a Chrysler model, but a stand-alone marque of its own -- and produced cars that far exceeded Cadillac and Lincoln in quality and style. It has been said that after Packard went out of business, who had been known for making America's finest luxury car, Imperial was their successor. In 1963, Mechanix Illustrated Magazine tested this car, and their verdict was well-put: "Even the Rolls is no match for the Imperial in actual comfort, ride, and performance". We have to agree. While Rolls-Royce may have the name and brand image, we must admit that this car is roomier and faster, and rides and drives better than a contemporary Rolls! We highly recommend "Elle" when longer trips are requested.

"Elle" is a lovely color combination, synonymous with weddings, of a Persian White exterior, with silver and black interior. Her spacious cabin is air-conditioned for your comfort, and offers plenty of legroom. She was sold new, and spent most of her life with, a career politician who was a member of Alabama Governor Lurleen Wallace's staff. When not in Montgomery, she spent her days in Gadsden, Alabama.

When the producers of AMC's hit show "Mad Men" needed an unparalleled status symbol for Don Draper to drive to California, they chose the '64 Imperial. We invite you too, as well.

The name "Elle" is our homage to automotive designer Elwood Engel, who penned this beautiful car, and many others.

"...Thank you for everything. The car was wonderful. Chris and I really wanted something nicer than a stretch limo, and you exceeded our expectations. We'll be calling you on our anniversary!..." -Kimberly R., Birmingham

"....Your [Hudson] sedan is just plain gorgeous! I want to tell you how really nice the black/green combination looks-- the way the green frames the windows, the broad beltline stripe. If I recall right '29 was a record year for Hudson, wasn't it? It's no wonder when I look at yours!" -James S., via E-Mail

"....Thank you for making this so easy!" -Kim G., Birmingham

"...Before our reception was even over, all my friends started coming up to me and asking where we found the car, and that it was so neat! My maiden-of-honor will be calling you to book her wedding this summer. Thanks for the great ride!" -Monica P., Birmingham
