THE 1956 CADILLAC SIXTY-SPECIAL
"Miss Daisy"

In 1956, American luxury cars came down to one name-- Cadillac. The "Standard of the World", General Motors termed their luxury line, had indeed raised the bar with the introduction of a new, smooth 4-speed automatic transmission, optional air conditioning (ours has it!), and sleek, finned styling. Cadillac had begun a major push for the luxury car market in 1954, with radically redesigned bodies, new V-8 engines, and unprecedented convenience options. By 1956, the marque was well on top of the market -- with Cadillac yearly sales totalling about four times that of their rivals, Lincoln and Imperial, combined.

Unlike the plainer Cadillacs of the early fifties, and the somewhat-overdone styling later in the decade, the 1956 made a clear, classy statement. Elvis Presley thought enough of the very similar '55 model that he purchased one for his mother.

Of the four-door '56 models, our Fleetwood Sixty-Special was the top of the line. You may remember seeing a similar one in the feature film Driving Miss Daisy. In fact, our very car made an appearance on the silver screen in the 1994 Academy-Award winning Tommy Lee Jones film Blue Sky.

1956 was the dawn of the Jet Age, and automobile styling embraced this popular theme. Notice the "Jet tube" exhausts, fins, and faux- air intakes on the rear doors. Classic!

Let us make our beloved "Miss Daisy" a part of your special day. Always a popular choice, we recommend early reservations!

"...Thank you for everything. The car was wonderful. Chris and I really wanted something nicer than a stretch limo, and you exceeded our expectations. We'll be calling you on our anniversary!..." -Kimberly R., Birmingham

"....Your [Hudson] sedan is just plain gorgeous! I want to tell you how really nice the black/green combination looks-- the way the green frames the windows, the broad beltline stripe. If I recall right '29 was a record year for Hudson, wasn't it? It's no wonder when I look at yours!" -James S., via E-Mail

"....Thank you for making this so easy!" -Kim G., Birmingham

"...Before our reception was even over, all my friends started coming up to me and asking where we found the car, and that it was so neat! My maiden-of-honor will be calling you to book her wedding this summer. Thanks for the great ride!" -Monica P., Birmingham
