In a word, Silver Clouds are timeless -- a World-class touring car with beautifully-crafed lines that only Rolls-Royce can produce. Elvis Presley, John Lennon, and Tony Bennett have all been Cloud owners, along with a host of other famous folks. Today, when many folks think of a Rolls-Royce, the Silver Cloud is the image that comes to mind. It is considered by car enthusiasts to be the last great Rolls-Royce.

This beautiful 1959 Silver Cloud II was ordered new by a lady (very unusual for the time) in Scottsdale, Arizona, Mrs. Ruth Ditty, in the fall of 1959. After her delivery in January of 1960, she spent some sixty years in Arizona, before moving East to enjoy a brief stay in Phildelphia with real estate broker Phil Winicov, a star of Bravo TV's Million Dollar Listing. In July, 2020 she found her new home in our Carolinas collection, and we are thrilled to offer such a beautiful, original car. She is finished in her authentic, original Porcelain White color -- while many Rolls-Royces have been painted white in order to enter wedding service, this one was "born" white, right from the Rolls-Royce factory. Her beautiful blue-gray leather interior is perfect for your something blue, and features both front and rear air conditioning for maximum comfort.

What's in a name?

We believe that original owner Mrs. Ruth Ditty's full name may have been Ruth Anne. Despite our efforts to research her, most of her life remains a mystery to us. However, it was very unusual for a lady to purchase a Rolls-Royce in that era -- she must have been a woman of considerable note. This, coupled with the possibility of her original owner's middle name and our penchant for naming Rolls-Royces for British royalty, reminds us of Queen Anne -- another strong lady well ahead of her time. Additionally, Princess Anne, daughter of HM Queen Elizabeth II, brings two more parallels: One, she was an Olympic equestrian -- and our Silver Cloud lived in Scottsdale, the heart of Western horse country, for some 60 years. Two, as Princess Anne is the daughter of Queen Elizabeth, our Silver Cloud "Anne" was brought about by the success our first white Rolls-Royce, "Elizabeth".
