Distinguished, composed, and quietly powerful, “Philip” shares his lineage with the legendary Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud — the same graceful lines, the same impeccable craftsmanship — yet carries Bentley’s signature spirit of confident touring. Elegant on the outside and air conditioned within, he’s the perfect balance of refinement and strength.
With flawless tan leather and polished walnut throughout, “Philip” offers you modern comfort wrapped in classic style. Whether you’re stepping into a grand departure or framing timeless photographs, he brings a sense of calm sophistication — a fitting companion to our Silver Clouds “Elizabeth” and "Anne", and a reminder that true class never shouts, it simply arrives.
From 1931 until 1998, Bentley was owned by Rolls-Royce — intended to embody the same English elegance in a sportier, touring model. One of only 228 of its type sold new in the United States, he was purchased by New Jersey attorney George Furst for his wife, Mayte. Always used gently, it had achieved collector-car status by 1973, joining the Rolls-Royce Owners’ Club ranks and being featured in the Rolls-Royce Owner’s Cookbook. The Bentley changed hands over the next several years, living in South Florida and Wisconsin, before joining our collection — and returning to the RROC register — in 2022.
Immediately after acquiring this car, we embarked on significant in-house reconditioning. The work paid off in June 2024, when Philip won First Place Concours at the Rolls-Royce Owners’ Club National Annual Meet in Nashville, Tennessee, scoring 392 out of a possible 400 points, and received the coveted Shamrock Trophy for Most Improved Postwar Car. You are unlikely to find very many wedding and event cars in the condition required to win these types of awards.
What's in a name?
Named in complement to our Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud “Elizabeth,” our Bentley takes his name from Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh — Elizabeth’s lifelong companion. Together, “Elizabeth” and “Philip” make a fitting pair in our collection: classic English elegance with a confident touring spirit.
“I cannot say enough wonderful things about our Chauffeur David! He was kind, professional, personable and made the experience absolutely wonderful! Kirsten was a dream to communicate with - she and James truly run a top-notch company. It is hard-working, kind-hearted people like the two of them who make a real difference in this world. Herbert and I feel so blessed that we had the opportunity to work with their team! Some of my favorite photos from our wedding day are with the Bentley - it was the perfect touch to our perfect day!! We highly recommend Coats Classic Cars to anyone looking for a luxury getaway car experience!" -Katherine and Herbert, at "The Club" in Birmingham, AL
