Our Services
-
A. We operate regional collections in Birmingham, AL, Huntsville, AL, Mississippi, the Western Carolinas, and Kansas City. Each collection is designed to serve its surrounding region and can travel as needed — and over our 27 years, we’ve provided classic cars for weddings in 12 states.
Which collection makes the most sense depends on your venue, timeline, and the car you love. We explain how service areas, travel, and staging work here: Wedding Service Areas & Travel. -
A. Yes — and much more. We accept only one wedding per car, per day — yours. Our base wedding service includes up to six hours on site (additional time can be added, if needed), and up to two complimentary local rides.
Our cars are the perfect canvas for heirloom photography, and a part of your reception atmosphere for your guests to admire and enjoy — not just the final exit. Our team will work with you, your photographer, and planner days or weeks in advance to coordinate a clear arrival window so the car is staged and ready for photography without creating timeline stress. And because the car is reserved exclusively for you, it never arrives late — or with someone else’s confetti, perfume, or footprints.
For a deeper look at why planners and photographers often recommend more than a “getaway-only” approach — and how one-wedding-per-car scheduling protects your experience — read: Why a Classic Wedding Car Is More Than Just a Getaway -
A. Have you thought about offering that included second trip to your parents, grandparents, or other important guests? It’s a thoughtful gesture and a memorable photo moment.
-
A. Along with weddings, we provide cars for anniversaries, birthdays, and proposals; photo shoots, TV & film; and display centerpieces at galas and other special events.
-
A. We began as a restoration shop more than 27 years ago. Today, we still appraise collector cars and occasionally buy, sell, or restore for others (as time and space allow). Visit coatscars.com, call 205-413-0480, or email classics@coatscars.com.
Chauffeurs & Driving
-
A. Absolutely. Every reservation includes an expert, uniformed chauffeur.
-
A. For your comfort and safety, all cars are chauffeur-driven only — you relax, we handle the rest. If you’d like more context on why we operate this way (and what it protects on a real wedding day), we explain our approach here: Why Our Cars Are Chauffeur-Driven. If you’re curious how this connects to vehicle size, comfort, and why we focus on full-size classics, we explain that relationship here: Why We Don’t Recommend Small Roadsters or Sports Cars for Weddings.
The Cars
-
A. Most classics were not built with A/C — but many of ours are air conditioned for your comfort. Each car’s description notes whether it’s equipped.
-
A. We’re asked this often — especially about cars like a Porsche, Mustang, Corvette, or other small sports car or two-seat convertible.
While those cars can be exciting, we generally don’t recommend them for wedding-day transportation. Weddings favor comfort, composure, and flexibility — and small roadsters tend to make entry, exit, photography, and timeline adjustments more difficult, especially in formal attire.
Instead, we focus on full-size classics — including sportier convertibles — that create the same open-air, celebratory feel while working more smoothly on real wedding days.
For a deeper explanation — including when sports cars do make sense — we’ve written a short guide here: Why We Don’t Recommend Small Roadsters or Sports Cars for Weddings -
A. Yes — and reliability is not an afterthought for us. Our cars are subject to rigorous pre- and post-event checklists, plus intensive weekly, monthly, and annual service based on nearly 30 years of experience. All maintenance is performed by in-house expert technicians, supported by a six-figure spare-parts inventory.
This thorough approach isn’t cheap — which is exactly why we operate as a full-time professional service — but it makes mechanical issues exceedingly rare.
For couples who want to understand what that preparation actually looks like behind the scenes, we’ve outlined our approach here:
-
A. We carry Commercial Public Auto Insurance for your protection and peace of mind. Personal insurance policies do not cover for-hire use.
-
A. Our in-house preparation process makes last-minute issues very uncommon. On the very rare occasion a substitution is needed, our fleet of 30+ classic cars allows us to serve you in unforgettable style without disruption to your day.
-
A. It’s a generous offer, and it can sometimes work for a casual photo moment. But for wedding-day transportation tied to your timeline, it often introduces avoidable risk:
- Insurance: Personal insurance policies typically do not cover wedding or for-hire use.
- Real-world stress: Vintage cars can surface issues under heat, traffic, or long idle periods — which is why our cars are intentionally set up and maintained for exactly those kinds of stress.
- Stress on your people: A well-intentioned friend can unintentionally become “the transportation vendor” for the day. This person wants to enjoy your wedding — not be committed to preparing the car, assuming the responsibility, and sit on standby all night.
- No backup plan: There’s usually no backup plan if something goes wrong.
For wedding transportation, we recommend a commercially insured, chauffeur-driven provider with clear standards and a contingency plan — so you and your vendor team can relax and enjoy the day.
For couples who want to explore this decision in more depth — including real-world responsibility, insurance, and wedding-day implications — we’ve written a short guide here:
Should We Use a Friend or Family Member’s Classic Car for Our Wedding? -
A. Great question — and it matters more than most couples realize. Before you book, ask:
- Commercial insurance: Can they provide proof of commercial auto liability coverage?
- Air conditioning: Most classics were not built with A/C — but many of ours are air conditioned for your comfort. Make sure the company is clear about whether or not the car you are considering has working A/C.
- Chauffeur standards: Is an experienced, background-checked, and vetted chauffeur included, and are they trained for wedding-day timelines?
- Preparation: Who maintains the cars — and how far in advance are they prepared?
- Exclusivity: Is it one wedding per car per day — or do I risk a late arrival from overbooking?
- Backup plan: If the specific car becomes unavailable, what happens next? Did you order a white Rolls-Royce — and end up with a green Chevrolet? A professional operator should be able to explain in advance how substitutions are handled — and how your experience and photo intent are protected.
Many of these questions directly affect pricing — especially when comparing longer on-site packages. We also walk through why personal or family-owned vehicles often introduce hidden risk in a wedding-day timeline in this guide.
A classic car should be a calm, memorable part of your day — not a question mark. -
A. Pricing usually reflects what’s included behind the scenes. When comparing quotes, be sure you’re comparing the entire service — not just the car for an hour — including insurance, preparation, and contingency planning. If you’d like a clearer breakdown of why pricing can vary — even when packages appear similar — we’ve outlined it here.
Making a Reservation
-
A. For Saturday events, it is common for our most popular cars to book 12+ months out. That’s not to say that we won’t have something available if you call us closer to your date — it just may not be your first-choice car. We recommend reaching out to us as soon as your date and venue are finalized. Remember, each car is unique — and when they're gone, they're gone!
-
A. A 50% non-refundable down payment secures your car and date, as that vehicle is held exclusively for you. The balance is due 30 days before your event.
-
A. Use our handy contact form, call 205-413-0480, or email classics@coatscars.com. We’ll reply promptly with a custom quote for your date and location.
